Words cannot explain my disappointment with this dealership.

I brought my Miata in for 2 required code updates and was expecting a very no issues interaction..I was incorrect in these hopes.

My appointment was for Friday, so I dropped it off my car the night before.. Great.. The next day I received a text asking if I preferred a call or text.. Super great, I prefer text. The disappointment came when I pickéd up my beloved yata..

It was 6 pm Friday and the lights were dimmed even though they were open until 7 pm.. a person asked how he could help and I pointed to my car and said I was there to pick it up. He seemed confused and walked over to a guy who appeared to be the service manager. The guy was slumped in a chair watching TV in a dark room...Why did he have to be involved anyway?

This interaction or lack there of, made me feel like they were closed or at best that I was unwelcome. Eventually I got my keys and left.. this is my third Miata and I've been to a lot of mechanics over the years and have never been so disappointed and unwelcome.

I would definitely think twice before ever going back to this dealership or any of the Maita locations ever again.

I called to make a service appointment for my Miata and the service advisor suggested a rear differential oil change service.
Well in my owners manual it states, as shown in the photos, this service is not suggested as a maintenance service it clearly states “If the component has been submerged in water, the oil should be replaced”.
When I called the service manager to try and give a heads up instead of doing this review I got explanation and excuses that seem to throw the book out the window.
I noticed a part missing from my undercarriage, a protectant for the muffler, I know I have seen it there but the service manager says my car does not come with one.
This dealership looks beautiful and you feel you should be able to trust them, but my experience tells me you cannot, and I question their professional opinion on repairs now too. It makes me sad that you just don’t know who to trust.

I give 5 stars, not because the car buying process was perfect, but because where it wasn't Maita did what they could to make things right. This was my fourth car purchase in my life and was ultimately the smoothest. I bought a new 2024 CX-50 in late September of this year. I primarily interacted with Alex L. in sales who was patient with my questions and search process. He was also consistent in communication. Ron in finance was straightforward to deal with and friendly. Michelle in finance helped me when I called with a question. I had to negotiate a bit more than I was hoping at the dealership with respect to my trade in, but Maita was generally straightforward and fair with pricing, particularly in comparison with dealerships closer to me in the Bay. They didn't have the second key for my car at the time of purchase, but Colby in the service department called me and set up a local East Bay tech who programmed a second key for me near my house, which Maita paid for. I respect that exchange significantly.

My only grievance is not with Maita but with Mazda USA who showed features on their website only for the 2025 CX-50s by the time I bought my car (a new 2024 in September of 2024). I had been debating between trims (Turbo Meridian and Turbo Premium) and had gone with the Meridian because Mazda's website showed that it had the Bose sound system, heated steering wheel, and ventilated seats. In the updates between years (which they highlighted as a larger infotainment touchscreen and improved pedestrian safety features) they didn't mention that none of these features were on the 2024 Meridian. If I had known I would not have bought this car. I don't blame Maita for this. When I reached out to Mazda they told me they would look into it and get back to me in 24-48 hours. That was two weeks ago and I have not heard from them again. As this is very unlikely to impact anyone else and isn't Maita's fault, I have no reservations recommending them as a place to buy a car.

This review is based off of my car purchase experience only and is my personal experience with this recent transaction. Jack and Michelle were very helpful and a pleasure to work with. I've had bad experiences before at other dealerships which so far is not the case here.

I really appreciate how honest and transparent both Jack/Michelle were. Two words that aren't too common in the industry. Car buying is stressful but I genuinely felt at ease here. I do believe I walked out with an amazing car and a great deal. I would highly recommend this dealership, and actually will have a family friend buying a Mazda here next year if the stars align.

Thank you so much Jack and Michelle - as well as the manager/other staff that helped facilitate our transaction. Keep up the great business practices. We need more dealerships that have this style of business around.

Till today I haven’t heard from the claim I have submitted against Maita Toyota for taking part off my 2yrs Toyota SUV, they stated those parts never existed and they treated me like I was lying. I spoke to the Roseville Toyota where I purchased the car, they testified the car came with those parts to the claim departments, they ordered those parts and shipped them to the Toyota Maita on Auburn. They received the parts and never dared calling me to tell me that those same parts they assured me doesn’t exist for the SUV and treated me with racism attitude and to their careers sweared I was lying, couldn’t call me to tell me they had the parts. I didn’t trust them to do any other job on the car! Also just as I did my research as One of their mechanic stated that the engine looked awful dirty, and truth to be told, 3 was driving without those parts covering the engine wouldn’t have left it that dirty. As they didn’t dare calling me about replacing the parts when they arrived because it wouldn’t have fit! They had the whole day for a recall for the passenger side, I allowed the courtesy fluid top off, yet they did whole lot more on that car that they shouldn’t have done. I requested the camera film that supposed to show how they were working on my car, they never provided it. (They claimed to be transparent!, never did on my case) the claim still exist and none of them could of call me and fix the problem because they did more than just taking off the parts covering the engine which purchased by Toyota and sent it there. I waited more than needed for the management there to admit his wrong and the salesman to admit and whom ever mechanics worked on it. It’s been awhile, Toyota I have shown you who got caught lying and stealing. As a customer you haven’t showed me full investigation, nor conclusion. To my lawyer I hope you will have all evidences.

Go to MODESTO MAZDA!
The only nice part was being greeted with a smile from the woman at the front desk. I made an appointment to test drive a vehicle. When the sales rep Art walked up he informed me the car I made the appointment to test drive was currently having a deal worked on. He did express any sympathy or empathy at the fact I drove 2 hours out of my way to make this appointment because my previous vehicle was a total loss as a result of a car accident.

When I reiterated “I made an appointment to test drive the car though”

His response was “You didn’t sign any documentation soooo.”

Needless to say no one there offered to make right of the huge inconsideration on their part for not honoring the fact I scheduled an appointment to test drive the car because I was interested in buying it.

For all that is sacred - never give Maita Mazda your business!

Worst car buying experience of my entire life, totally because of the finance manager using hard sell tactics for extended warranties on a CPO Mazda. I told him no at least three times and he just did not drop it. On the way to the dealership, I had a blow out on the freeway and was a little rattled, otherwise I would have walked out the door on the deal because of him.
