My husband and I dined there last night for the 1st time, to kick off his birthday weekend. He’s always skeptical about trying new restaurants, but he was so glad he tried this one. He ordered the smothered chops, mac/cheese , collards and hot water cornbread. I had the fried chicken wings, yams, rice/gravy and hot water cornbread. Both meals were delicious and served piping hot. I didn’t know that the food would be served in carry out containers, and plastic cups and cutlery would be used, but it didn’t bother me at all! I ordered the seafood gumbo, peach cobbler and banana pudding as a carry out order. Everyone has different taste, so I’m not knocking it, but the gumbo was not for me, and I prefer bananas in my banana pudding. Not a complaint, simply a preference. We will definitely be ordering from there on a regular basis and I will be placing a catering order for Christmas. Excellent way to start hubby’s birthday weekend!!

I had a sample of the seafood gumbo. It was magnificently delicious. Catfish fried, pinto beans, and yams were tasty. Catfish was crisp crunchy yet moisture. I was expecting the yams to be candy sweet but it was just the right amount of sweet. The pinto beans were seasoned well and yummy. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was chill laid back and delightful. I'll be going back for a full bowl of gumbo.

Beautiful soul food restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing 😍 I tried the catfish+ 2 sides. The dressing and black eye peas with rice. Also the smoked wings. Everything was seasoned and not overly salty. We will definitely be back!

I didn't take any pictures because I was hungry, greedy and impatient. But this is some of best food soul I've had! Absolutely delicious. Everything hit, seasoned well, big portions and served HOT and fresh. And the service is A1. Prompt and friendly!

My cousin and I call it our happy place. She comes from Chicago once a month, and we go there for lunch. Every thing on the menu is delicious! We do lunch and enjoy a cocktail too. It has a totally unique vibe that is uplifting. The clientele tends to be male, ‘cause the food is like mama use to make! (Oops, the food isn’t that expensive. We just order a lot.)

This was the second time my husband and I ate food from this restaurant. While this place is on the small side with only about 8 - 10 table, neither the service nor the food suffers for this. The first time we did a take out order, The food came out in relatively good time, especially for being cooked to order, and the food and service was good. This time we decided to sit down since we had the time. Everyone from the waitress, chef and owner were extremely nice and accommodating. The waitress gave great recommendations and followed-up with us on how everything was and if we needed anything else without being too intrusive. The chef brought out the food and came back to ask us how everything was. The owner even stopped by to make sure we were okay. The food was outstanding. Well cooked, seasoned and all out delicious. I noticed that at the table next to us, something in the ladies order was wrong. Not only did the waitress apologize and offer to take care of it immediately, the chef came out to speak with her, apologized, gave her an explanation for how the error occurred and assured her they would do everything to correct this for her. The lady looked happy with the action and results. I thought they handled everything wonderfully. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

We went in there for a quick hour ended up staying for maybe five the atmosphere was beautiful and inclusive. Met both the owners and their daughter enjoyed myself tremendously and the food was superb. Best Soulfood on the south suburbs.
