If you are a prospective first time homebuyer, a few months ago, I was just like you. Ready to make a dream come true, but unsure of what team to put together to help make it happen.

I got advice from friends and family and also watched tutorials on the home buying process. There is a general consensus that one should shop around and get quotes from a variety of lenders, from big banks to credit unions to brokers. That way, you can make comparisons and decide who is best for you.

So I shopped around. With the big banks and credit unions, I felt like just another number. They really didn’t care about my time, the urgency of my hunt or my financial realities. I had way less than 20% to put down for a down payment.

I then looked up lots of brokers on yelp and google and the reviews were always a mix of good and bad results. When you see a broker with great reviews who also receives horrible reviews, you start to worry that you could be one of those customers who goes on to have a terrible experience with that lender. Like most reasonable/sensible people, you wouldn’t and shouldn’t trust a major investment with someone you aren’t 100% confident in.

I was then lucky enough to get a recommendation for Arby.
