Almost any credit union, including Princeton Federal Credit Union, is better than almost any bank, in that the fees do not rip you off as much. I joined P.F.C.U. around 15 years ago, when I took a job at Princeton University. For a long time, it was satisfactory. They refer to customers as members, but, it seems, the credit union may no longer remember this.

Around two years ago, P.F.C.U. closed its Princeton University campus branch. Was this a move members supported? If they surveyed us, I missed it. If you have enough university employee members to justify an on-site location in the first place, what should they think, now that they have to travel to the main branch for matters requiring personal attention? "It's only two miles or so from campus," you might say, but it was a ten-minute walk when that P.F.C.U. branch was on university grounds. Also, many Princeton University employees use public transportation, so driving to the credit union Alexander Road branch is not an option.

Today, when I had to visit the Alexander Road branch for business I could not conduct via the credit union app or A.T.M., I learned Princeton Federal Credit Union remembers its members even less. Arriving after a 45-minute drive from home, I asked about using their bathroom and the P.F.C.U. teller, with a nonchalant demeanor, answered, "We no longer allow members in our bathroom." (Was this the result of a member survey?) The teller's attitude was all I needed to understand about what went into such a decision: Get away, member, ya bother me.

First, it was convenience for university members. Then it was courtesy for all members. What's next?

I have two accounts at PFCU, one being an estate account I opened after my partner's death. I'd like to thank Sherry Ferello, the manager, who made opening the estate account easy. Sherry has a huge heart, and she really cares about PFCU's members, her staff, and people in general. She consistently goes the extra mile. I also had a homeowner's insurance claim, and Sherry made depositing checks from the insurance company easy. PFCU may not have the highest interest rates available for savings or the lowest interest rates available for loans, but if you want exceptional customer service, PFCU is the place to go for all your financial needs. I highly recommend PFCU.

They make everything “Easy-peasy”.
Been dealing with PFCU for nearly thirty years, and my daughters for over fifteen years, Rates are good and competitive (sometimes VERY competitive if you are looking to reduce you car payments), but what distinguishes PFCU from all the other financial institutions I've dealt with over the years is their quality of service - highly personable, always professional, and very accessible. Even when their rates may be matched by another institution, the peace-of-mind that comes from dealing with the team at PFCU out-weighs any short-term benefit others might offer,

Banking with the PCFU isn't the best banking experience I've ever had but it's convenient for me. The reviewer who said the debit card doesn't work anywhere makes absolutely no sense. Since 2020, my credit union debit card is often the only method of payment I carry with me and I have never, ever had a problem.
