Since joining this credit union I have had nothing but positive experiences, the staff are amazing, they genuinely care about their members and happy to help and support when needed.

Applying for a loan through the app is very straightforward and the team will communicate following this if the application requires supported documents.

I would recommend TUI credit union to anyone who can avail of their service, they will not disappoint.

These loan arrangers are not at all as helpful as they crack on to be, and it is not a bother to them to let you down badly and leave you empty-handed should you seek a loan. I found this crowd of eight loan ‘officers’ very unhelpful. They were blithely indifferent as to whether or not I received the loan I applied for on-line. This is in the light of me having been a member for many years. There was not the slightest interest or effort by any of them to help me with the application process. There was no follow-up telephone call or email from them asking if they could be of assistance. They simply appeared as if they could not care less. That is the painful reality I found behind their slick marketing operation proclaiming their unique, personalised service. Of course they shovel out loans to the right ‘type’ (cars & holidays: loans given immediately you join, & fill your boots). To reel-in these persons to take on debt (to fund the cushy salaries of the 8 ‘officers’) the Union effectively offers automatic no-fuss life cover. However it appears if deemed by the CU not to be the right type, e.g. older persons, you will feel treated as a nuisance; their much vaunted ‘personal service’, ‘support’ and ‘24 hour approval’ appearing to go out the window. The CU appear to have a heavy-handed loan approval regime with time-consuming bureaucratic over-reach. They make you jump through hoops. Part of their obstacle course, is their forcing you to complete a 4 page medical proposal form, so that they can commodify you for their tied life insurance. Before considering if they will give you a cent they will compel you to give your intimate medical details, that are open to their 8 loan 'officers' to have a good read through, regarding heart disease, stroke, raised blood pressure, or diabetes; stomach, bowel, liver, pancreas, kidney disease; lung conditions, cancer, tumours, other growths; anxiety, depression, or stress; back pain, slipped disc, whiplash; arthritis, MS, Parkinson’s, Alzheimers, or other neurological disease, alcohol problems, visual defects or a hearing problem, Hepatitis B or C, HIV/Aids, and the catch-all ‘other diseases or disorders, medical condition or injury’. Also details of tablets or medicines taken. You must agree to be examined by their doctor and permit the disclosure of your medical details to a list of third parties, and for your own GP to be contacted. Then there is the wait to find out whether they will or won’t give life cover, or if the cover is hedged with all sorts of exclusions that you have to swallow (any condition mentioned is immediately excluded). You are a mere bystander in the proposing of your medical history by the CU to ECCU. This whole nasty compulsory abnormal procedure, relevant to older persons, is now normalised by the - nothing to see here, let's move on - TUICU. At this point then, with all your health details laid bare, it appears a committee will magisterially convene to consider the application.
You might have been a loyal member for many years; it doesn't matter. Their appreciation of the loyalty of longtime members is just lip -service. You could be careful, creditworthy, and financially most secure and only seeking a modest loan, but, naw, their priority before a loan is even considered is one of making judgment on the state of your arthritis, ventricles, prostrate and hearing no less. It must be an absolute nightmare for anyone trying to get a mortgage from these heavy-handed and over-bureaucratic, and as I found indifferent loan ‘officers’. It is a Union that has lost its original and true purpose of being mutually supportive. The CU seems to self regard now as ‘bankers’. It has become too big, vain, and self-congratulatory, and with its impersonal on-line processes, remote from those it should care for. Peel back its polished words and flag-waving about its ‘unwavering commitment to serve its members’ and there to be seen is a tough-nosed financial outfit, where harvesting interest and watching the bottom-line is all that matters.

My experience with TUI Credit Union has been exceptionally on every occasion.
I been out of work for the last few months, due to illness and they could not have been more supportive to my circumstances. Throughout my dealings with them they have always been professional, friendly and accessible, while ensuring things were kept simple, for myself as their customer. I would not hesitate to recommend them to my family or friends, as they are a pleasure to deal with.
