Tried calling and had to wait 10 minutes, no answer. Drove 30 minutes to the bank and waited in their lobby for additional 30 minutes. No one had the competence to explain how to turn off a activity center issue including the manager. I ended up RESOLVING IT myself. Making plans to no longer bank here. There has been zero value add financially from this bank from a business and customer service level FOR MANY YEARS.

Had made an urgent appointment with Siobhan Williams on Saturday morning. She we so helpful , professional and extremely knowledgeable. She was a joy to work with . UVA credit union you had better do your best to hang on to her! She is top notch!!

Just wanted to say that I have been a member with this Credit Union a couple of times. I recently joined again about 5 years ago after being medically retired from the United States Army and serving 14 years. I recently applied for a hardships skip a month payment on my loan, due to personal reasons. I have several loans and have also paid off other loans with UVA Credit Union. I have never been late and even paid ahead, as well as more then the amount due on previous months. I was denied because the loan wasn't 12 months old. What a joke.....It's a hardship issue and that's what the skip a month is needed for. You can't predict when something will happen. This Community Credit Union use to be friendly and helpful. However, they are more like big banks now and don't help the ones in need. I served my country for 14 years and they couldn't find away to help a 100 percent disabled Veteran that deployed 5 times in a combat zone.....who received a Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal with Valor, and a Bronze Star......skip one freaking payment! They would rather let me fall behind, charge me, and affect my credit 😤. This is disappointing and discussing.

This is a complete joke of a credit union. You might be considering UVACCU because you've heard that credit unions are a kinder, more usable alternative for low-income individuals compared to the big banks. In this case, that is totally untrue.

UVACCU debit cards cannot be linked to Apple Pay or Google Wallet. Mobile deposit, a technology that has been in place for decades, takes longer at UVACCU than at any other bank I have used. I have waited over a week for mobile deposit funds to be available, while their terms state two business days. Their fees are well above comparable "credit unions" and banks, and I have received no grace and no kindness in resolving unauthorized charges and resultant overdraft fees on my account.

Any communication with their customer service staff is pointless unless you have a few dozen hours of free time to burn. The only way to resolve any issue you may have with this bank is to spend days to weeks repeatedly contacting them via phone, email, and their online messaging service (on the rare occasion you're able to access it). They are no quicker in responding to reports of unauthorized charges or lost debit cards.

UVACCU's approval policies for credit cards and loans are more stringent and less flexible than those of other leading banks doing business in the area. and they are much quicker to assess fees than any bank I've ever dealt with. They will creatively resequence your deposits and debits in whatever way they need to in order to profit. I cannot stress enough that this is a disreputable, dishonest institution with which no one should do business. This institution does not care about its customers, and its chosen affiliation with the UVA brand should tell you all you need to know.

The website is decades out of date and more often than not it is down for maintenance. UVACCU will make it impossible for you to access your account online, then charge you fees for not properly maintaining your account using its online interface.

As someone who stupidly moved from Truist (another cartel disguised as a bank) to UVACCU, there is no reason to trust this institution with your money. This company makes bank off of clueless college students and impoverished locals who lack basic financial literacy. It is a predatory excuse for a financial institution. Their executives and those who work for them (including whoever is paid a meager hourly wage to respond to this review) should be ashamed of themselves.

Revision of my poor review about the auto loan insurance tracking system. After being contacted directly by a pleasant lady in the marketing department I do feel different about this credit union as a whole. Perhaps the insurance tracking system they use is not as efficient as the typical.

If you're looking for a loan, UVA Community Credit Union is a great choice. They have great rates on automotive loans and their credit cards feature some of the lowest interest rates. For basic banking (checking and savings), however, I would choose another bank. This is because UVACCU's online platform and apps are outdated and not as user-friendly as other's that I've used. This may cost you in the long run with fees or interest charges.

1. Applied for auto loan online. BIG MISTAKE, EVEN THE LOAN REPRESENTATIVE SAID SO! First day I showed up for loan closing and contract was wrong numbers so I went back next day and it still took over an hour for things to get straight. I get paperwork takes a while but number 2 I wad never told about, I had to find that out at DMV when they would not take the paperwork
2. Loan was complete about a week ago and I can't even put it in my name until May 19th at the earliest. I bought from private seller which contributed but the process takes a long time so if you need that vehicle to go to work in, may just wanna go somewhere else for a loan because my vehicle will be in my driveway for a month before I can even drive it. I was not told any of this at the time of loan closing or processing.
